Our work
PROJECTS ARE AT THE CORE OF THE GLOBAL SHAPERS COMMUNITY
Social impact projects that are created, structured and executed by hub members have been at the heart of the community since the very beginning.
Here you can read more about some of our active projects, as well as successes from past initiatives carried out by the Copenhagen Hub since our launch.
Ongoing Projects
Project ‘Local Youth Climate Councils’
The Danish Youth Climate Councils (LYCC) are groups of young people who care about the environment and want to make a difference. They work to convince the Danish government to make good policies to help fight climate change. The LYCC also works with local leaders to raise awareness about climate change and to make sure they are keeping their promises to help the environment.
So far, we have worked with municipalities to set up 5 local climate councils all across Denmark. In March 2024, we received funding to expand the project across more municipalities by TuborgFondet.
Project ‘Mental Health Club’
The Health Club is an organization that welcomes individuals who wish to explore and improve their overall health and wellbeing. The club aims to create a space where young people can come together and engage in various activities that promote healthy living. These activities may include sports, meditation, and nutrition as well as reading materials that can help members excel in whichever aspect they choose.
Previous Projects
Project ‘Wealth, Work and Worth’
Documentary about the “Socialt Frikort”, a Danish rule that makes it easier for homeless and disadvantaged people to get into the labour market.
Project ‘Give By Default’
Denmark's position as the 11th richest country in the world presents a significant opportunity to do good. By implementing a payroll giving scheme, companies can make it easier for their employees to donate to registered charities and fulfill their corporate social responsibility. Payroll giving schemes can be tailored to fit a company's values and mission, making it a flexible and effective way to give back to society.
Project ‘Folkelig Saloon’
The Folkelig Saloon offers an inclusive evening of fun and tribute to diversity in Copenhagen, bringing together internationals and Danes.
Project ‘Sips of Science’
An event series hoping to “denerdify” science and bring it to the masses.
Project ‘With Purpose’
With Purpose – Accelerating Women provides women entrepreneurs with a platform to accelerate their journey. The platform provides women entrepreneurs of all stages, including idea stage, with relevant resources, network-gatherings, and mentorship from established entrepreneurs, accelerating their journey towards becoming successful entrepreneurs themselves. Later renamed to www.evenfounders.com
Project ‘Blue Yellow Buses’
When the war hit, we wanted to help. Therefore, Global Shapers Copenhagen co-founded and lead Blue Yellow Buses, reaching a team of 160+ volunteers within 2 weeks and helping 1000 people (and 62 pets) find safety in Denmark on 23 buses. When there is an acute need, shapers step up to help.
Project ‘Hey Neigbhor’
Challenge
Many inhabitants of big cities do not know their neighbours. This is also true for Copenhagen. Research has shown that it is good for a city, neighbourhood and ultimately for individuals that they get to know the people that live near them, as it can reduce polarisation and decrease feelings of loneliness. Though the desire to better know ones’ neighbours is often expressed, it still seems difficult for many to take the leap and in fact get to know them.
Results
Our ‘hey neighbour’ project makes that first step a bit easier. Through sending ‘hey neighbour’ cards we facilitate a way to initiate contact with neighbours that do not know each other yet, or want to get to know each other better. The project is set up by the Global Shapers Copenhagen in collaboration with the Disrupted Societies Institute (DISI), an Amsterdam-based think- and do-tank, which aims to better understand the divisive forces behind disrupted societies. With this project, we hope to better understand when citizens feel at home in their own neighbourhood and how this might change.
Project Youth Mental Health
Challenge
According to the World Economic Forum, youth mental health issues are "the single biggest challenge facing society" (Link Here). This project seeks to develop new initiatives aiming at improving free mental health offerings for young people in Denmark, for example through the use of technology.
Results
Fruitful discussions and knowledge sharing with existing mental health organisations. The project is still relatively new so more results to come!
Project Boost
Challenge:
It is super difficult to launch and grow a social impact project or venture without any experience doing this. Project Boost is supporting early stage ideas, projects, organisations and ventures by drawing on the varied experiences our hub members have - from building charities from scratch to nailing business plans at C25 companies
Results:
The project is still in its early phases. So far, we have advised a STEM organisation on how to establish an Advisory Board, helped a plastic recycling organisation scale from 1 high school to multiple, and supported a female empowerment charity-in-the-making on how to define their target user by using design thinking principles.

Repairfect
Challenge
Clothing consumption comes with a huge toll on the environment and climate, and in addition clothing use has declined by almost 40% the last 15 years. Alongside producing high quality garments using more sustainable methods it is therefore key to keep the clothes that are produced, for longer. Repairfect aims to do this by building a bridge between consumers and providers of clothing repair.

We have built a one-stop shop website, catering to all those needs. You can find tutorial packages for the most common issues, an overview of where to borrow equipment for free, and online tailors. In the pipeline is a map over verified tailors, as well as a calendar for related events.
Since the launch in July, the website has had more than 700 unique visitors, and we have co-organised or presented on 3 events around sustainability, circularity and textiles.
Project Springboard
Challenge
Trampolinhuset provides critical services for refugee families and asylum seekers settling in Denmark, including access to legal advice, job readiness programmes and counselling. Unfortunately the house was at risk of closing down due to financial challenges driven by COVID-19. Everyone deserves a fresh start, renewed hope and a space to build community.
Results
We initiated a fundraiser for the organisation and raised more than 25.000 DKK net of related expenses. The donation will among other things contribute to the job training, workshops on rights and duties, entrepreneurship, language classes, counseling as well as expenses related to network building such as community dinners.
Enable for life
challenge
Enable is an independent charity that works to give orphaned girls a safe childhood and a future where they can be independent. With their partners, they have started the construction of a small village for children in Tamil Nadu, Southern India.
We were contacted by Enable to help them launch a new website as well as help them on fundraising strategy and execution.
Results
Through using our networks, we managed to help Enable with the organisation of a charity dinner that ended up raising 150,000 DKK for their important work. We furthermore helped them launch a new bi-lingual website that has significantly increased donations.
Reklamer Ja Tak
Challenge
Tons and tons of paper are used each year for print commercials and free news papers that no one reads. We believe the impact of transforming the opt-out model of print commercials to an opt-in model would be tremendous - it would force the consumer to make a conscious choice.
Results
Since the launch of the project in late 2019, Coop Denmark, one of the largest supermarket chains in Denmark, has announced that they will go 100% digital for commercials. The Red-Green party has also rallied behind the idea. The proposal is currently a live citizen’s petition with over 6,700 signatories.
Mind Your Own Business
Challenge
Too many communities across Denmark were struggling to create high quality spare time offerings for boys with immigrant backgrounds, which too often resulted in the boys engaging in the wrong kind of activities instead of using their talents in a good way.
Results
Built on an entrepreneurial foundation, Mind Your Own Business engage boys aged 13-19 from challenged communities across Denmark. We helped develop MYOB, which today has grown into an award-winning organisation, developing entrepreneurs and role models in communities across the country.
